Fished Monday and Tuesday and had the good, the bad, and the ugly. Monday was the world famous JEM Mechanical crew(Jimmy, Kenny, and Tracy). True to form, we left early, caught fish, and came home early. Got on a good trout bite, mostly school trout and big whites. Did the stick and move for several hours, but stayed in steady action. Did have a school of Jack Crevalle come through. Mr Tracy got to wrestle the 25lber in as I gave chase on the trolling motor. Jimmy pulled the plug when had 33 specks and 20 something whites in the box. All the fish fell for clear soft plastics under the popping corks. Too pretty of a morning not to go look for triple tail. Found one stubborn fatty that would not bite. At one point, we had three corks in front of the fish. Never got it to bite.
Tuesday the weather got the better of us. Poppa Lou, our chef at the Cat Island house brought some of his buddies to fish. The bite we were on was completely shut down with the conditions. None of us wanted to push the weather envelope and came home after a couple of hours of fishing. Did not have much to clean at the tables, but any day with Poppa Louie is a a good one. As Capt Matt mentioned, all of us will be in Jackson for the extravaganza the weekend of August 5,6 and 7. If you are in the area or plan on attending, please come by our booth and say hello...
