Great day in da bay. Got to fish with Capt Kenny and our good friend, Bobby Cleveland from the Clarion Ledger in Jackson. Bobby wanted to check out the winter fishing in the bay, and was not disappointed. His first three casts yielded fish. Water was a pretty clean green and very calm. It has been a few months since Capt Kenny and I have fished on the same boat. The steady bite actually prevented us from "catching up". Hardest part of the day was figuring who was going to net fish. Can't say enough about how much fun this type of fishing. Sure I enjoy catching trout, but passing up a bite like this, this close to home is just silly.
Used bottom rigs all day and put all the drags to the test. We had the boat full of bait, we had live and dead bait, along with crab. Only got to fish a few hours, but the box was over flowing with drum, sheepshead and one nice slot red. Released many, but kept 10 big sheepshead, 10 puppy drum and 1 red.
