Trying to get on the water when possible in between the cold fronts. Capt Kyle and Capt Kenny have been thinning the deer population throughout the great state of Mississippi. Ran a two boat trip with Capt Matt thanks to Bart Haddad and the boys on the Southern Way out of Long Beach. Had a few hours with Dean and the boys before the headed out to Chandelier Island. We hit the reefs, bridges and piers off the coast of Hancock County. Both boats returned with boxes of puppy drum and sheepshead. Used shrimp and cracked crab with most of the fish hitting the shrimp.
Today I had Bill Decher, his son Drake, daughter Lauren and her buddy Meagan. Left from the world famous Bay Marina and took the youngsters to the bridges. Found plenty of fish, but had to work for them. Did find some keeper flounder in the 50 degree water. The guys at Okuma sent us the new Epixor spinning reels to try out. So far so good, if they hold up as good as their Trio reels I will be very happy. Been very pleased all around with the Okuma stuff and their customer service. Found a mixed bag of fish today. Bill caught most likely the biggest sheepshead my boat has ever seen today. Young Meagan got biggest fish today with a nice red. Drake almost got a massive black drum in the boat before it decided to run into the pillings. Ended the day with sheepshead, flounder, black drum and redfish all caught on dead shrimp mintues from the dock. Always fun when the youngsters catch a mess of fish.
