4-28-12 Report

5 boats out today and over 300 speckled trout were brought back to the dock. Looks like we are going to be in for some fantastic Spring and Summer fishing. Little choppy from the wind, and water was a bit murky, but the trout did not seem to mind. Again, the hard rising tide seemed to keep the fish hungry. The boats have been bringing good trout all week, but Saturdays fish were by far the biggest. Had an old buddy of mine, from

the USM days, on the boat today. Perry Goodman and his father David were in it to win it. Have not seen Perry in over a decade, and we had a ball catching up and catching trout. Caught fish at every stop today, some better than others. Fished bars, banks, beds and birds, with oyster beds being the best. Some of the fish we boxed today were close to 3 pounds! Used popping corks with clear and chartreuse plastics all day long. Finished our 75 fish limit before 11AM. Actually watched Capt Matt get his 50 specks in about 45 minutes, he put on a clinic. We tried to redfish after we got our trout. Caught 2, but both were undersized and released. Capt Matts crew did the best out of all of us, they got 5 keepers today. Did not see any triple tail today. Brought in a hired gun today, Capt Brett Ladner in the 24 triton. Capt Brett and Capt Kyle ran a bachelor party trip for a buddy of theirs nephew. The Ernest Group was a bunch of college age hooligans out for a good time on the water. Saw them early in the morning bowed up on both boats. Did not hear much from either boat the rest of the day. Tried to call in the boys on the bite we found, but never heard back from either of them. Back at the dock it was easy to see that neither boat needed help. Both boats returned with the biggest trout we have seen this year. 128 fat trout and 1 big flounder had the lively group jazzed up at the cleaning tables. Nice work fellas. Capt Kenny had a last minute cancelation but was not staying on land with fishing this good. Kenny fished with Shore Thing Founder, Capt Mike Thompson and his 4 year old son Mitch. Not shocking that those boys stayed on the fish from start to finish. Fished for a bit next to their boat while Mitch was reeling in his second big red drum of the morning. They let Mitch reel in almost all of the 50 trout they kept today. Kenny said he barely got the boat on a step before little man went down for the count on his bean bag. Young Mitch is becoming quite the angler. All the boats worked together, calling each other in on hot bites. Nice having all the boys on the water, especially when the fish are this hungry… ****SHORE THING Fishing Charters**** Check us out on You Tube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdJjkK7ldsk&context=C497653dADvjVQa1PpcFOwoDwX2vSzY4P5FRg4Nz-_nX2fhO9IImg= With four boats available, small and large groups are welcome.
