8=3=12 Report

Gonna have to change the name of the company from Shore Thing Charters to “Shark Thing” Charters. Over the last two weeks, been fishing a lot for the toothy critters. Be lying if I said I did not enjoy the heck out of it. Don’t get me wrong, trout redfish, triple tail, etc are great, but it is nice wrestle those big fish in. Tuesday was team Knuckle Head back for round two with the sharks. Young Christopher and Charlie had too much fun last week, they had to come back. Did an afternoon trip and fished Telegraph and Cat Island for the big boys. While we were trying to get a few small fish for cut bait, we wound up finding 3 big black drum an one big shark. Headed to the island and threw the big net for some mullet. Got all we needed for chum and bait. Did not take long once we set up in deep water to get the big sharks rolling. The two man crew stayed hooked up for hours, even got a bull red in the mix. Just in two trips, these boys are really getting good with their technique. Tried to go Wednesday but it was blowing just a bit too much. Rescheduled, but it was the right call.Thursday had the Harrison team in town from Dallas. Terry, Robin, Lance and Ricky were here for the trout and reds. Prior posts got the young guns interested in the sharks. Glad they were, because it was howling and trout bite was slow. Caught a few trout, and plenty of fish for bait. The boys were ready for the big pull and we set up for the chumming. Took all of five minutes before we had sharks on the surface behind the boat. Very impressed that the two college age boys hooked, fought and boated sharks for several hours. Did catch another bull red that made their day. Wind layed down for the last portion of the day. Started using an oversized popping cork rig I stole from Capt Kenny. Biggest black tip of the day came on one of the last pieces of bait. Safely got the big fish in the boat, and headed to the barn.
