8-9-12 report(Cat Island too)

Had to move a bunch of trips around due to sour weather, but better to be here wishing you there, then there wishing you were here...We canceled our trip Tuesday morning due to some storms over the marsh. I had already put the boat in the water, with bait, ice and fuel. Waited around to see if would break. I was able to ride around for a bit looking or triple tail. Found two big boys and got both of them before heading to the Boathouse to catch up on some maintence. Captains Matt, Kyle and Kenny headed out to the Cat Island House with the Besh group for three days of fishing, food and fun. Was able to chat with them on Wednesday when I had the Rozier group(David, David and Garren). We headed to the marsh with flat calm seas, but did have to dodge a few thunder bumpers. Most of the morning was catching lady fish, sharks and other trash. Was able to find a few diving birds and moving water in 3 to 4 foot of water over some shell bottoms. The juvenile lady fish were everywhere, but if you could shake them off the hook, a keeper trout would hit. Got about 30 and the bite just stopped. I could hear the other 3 boats picking away at fish, but did not sound hot and heavy. We went looking for redfish, but the horse flies were out of control. One rat red, a shark an a stingray later, we went back to the trout. Water was moving even better and the rain minnows were thick. Had three fish on until big Dave hooked a giant bull red. Got the brute in the boat, but that sucker ended our trout fest, 6 fish shy of our limit. Kept calling the other boats in to come join the bite, but they never came. As we were leaving the marsh we learned that all three boats were full of trout. They just kept plugging away all morning and got it done. We went looking for triple tail, went 0 for 0 and somehow beat a nasty storm in with 69 trout and 1 bull red, safe and sound.Talked with the boys out at the Cat Island House, sounded like they smoked the trout. They had there 225 fish limit with a few extra fish to boot. The boys even found a few redfish, flounder and triple tail to complete one heck of an island get a way for the 9 person Besh Group. They had their bag limit of trout on the second day, and it sounded like they celebrated the last night. They boiled shrimp, watched the olympics and enjoyed a few adult beverages. Happy to report they all made it in safe and dry, dodging the line of storms that prevented me from going out.****SHORE THING Fishing Charters**** The finest inshore fishing on the entire MS Gulf Coast.
