Had all four boats out Saturday morning for a fun filled near shore trip. First time all of the guides have been together since November on the same outing. It was good crew to have, a very lively bachelor party from all over the region. The David Owen experience has been with us before. They came during the fall two years ago on the best flounder fishing trip Shore Thing Charters has ever had. The last bachelor party trip we had with them, we brought back 82 flounders!
We had some big shoes to fill, but we made the best of it. With a crisp NE wind, and low dirty water, all four boats went to work in the Bay. We all left from Bay Marina with live wells full of live shrimp. I know we used all of ours on the sheepshead, drum and even a nice red. The protected waters of the Bay and the live bait allowed steady action all morning long. Capt Kyle called all of us over on some pilings he was fishing on. His boat was on a nest of big sheeps. Pretty cool having the whole crew together catching those big suckers. Capt Kennys boat fished next to us most of the morning. His bunch took over DJ duties on his stereo. One of his guys brought their IPod and was blaring old episodes of the Chappelle Show. Very fun fishing next to them, to say the least. All the boats were fishing live and or dead shrimp on the bottom near any structure(reef, bridge, piling, etc).
When we met back up at Bay Marina, we had a pile of fish for the bubbly group. They hung out while we cleaned several hampers of sheepshead, puppy drum, redfish and one speck. Great day on the water with a very very fun group of guys.
Capt Matt did sneak across to the marsh on Friday with Don Smith. They pecked around and found some decent water and some good fish. Using only plastics and the stick and move tactic, he got 10 reds and some keeper trout. Just having to pick our days to get over there.
