Been a while since the last report, but I can assure you the fishing has been good. We have been ducking and weaving to dodge the summer time squalls, but just playing it safe. Have been on a steady trout bite for the last few weeks. The Bull reds have been a welcome surprise from time to time. Most of the fishing has been on the live bait(shrimp, pogies, mullet and croakers).
We try to celebrate shark week every year, and this year was no exception. Had two trips last week for young anglers wanting a big shark before having to go back to school. Did not disappoint, and found some big bulls and black tips shockingly close to the beach. One of the big bulls we put in the boat with Tyler Guice was around 100 pounds!
Been trying to keep up with Capt Kenny on the triple tail, but he still is holding the title with a 17.5 lber. We have caught some good ones, tagged several, and even recaptured a few tagged fish. We have been assisting the Gulf Coast Research Lab in collecting large male triple tails. They need the big boys to fertilize the females. Have been able to get them a few, but have had to call in some help. Twice my good friend Chris Gouras from Panacea, FL has come over to help us get some big fish. He is still the best triple tail fisherman I have ever seen. My goal is to get him and Capt Kenny go toe to toe triple tail fishing. Those fish would not stand a chance.
Captains Matt, Jimmy Ray have been at it as well. With plenty of help from our buddies Captains Brett and Darren, the shore thing cleaning tables have seen many fish the past few weeks. For the umpteenth time this year, Team Boathouse(Sid, Steve, Ronald, Dylan and Giffen), was able to get my boat a much needed oil, filter and lube job. Could not do it with out these guys, they keep the shore thing fleet running smoothly, Thanks Guys!
Glad we have been taking pictures, they keep me honest in the stories. Got a bunch on the website and will put up as many as time will allow here.
