We were booked most of last week, but the wind and rain caused the majority of the trips to reschedule. Like we tell all of our customers, if it is not safe or productive, we don't want any part of it. On the days we could get out, big fish were what most of the sights were set on. Cinderella story of the week was when Capt Darren grabbed the best weather day and threw a Hail Mary down in the LA Marsh. He found a great trout and red bite, one of the better ones we have seen in weeks. Happy to see it, but the weather kept us from getting back to it, and we were only able to fish in close. The near shore fishing was great on the big critters(bull reds, black drum, sharks and jacks), but we are all wanting to get the fish Darren found.
Myself, along with Captains Kenny, Matt and Tom got to fish the boys from St Stanislaus over the weekend. We had young men from all over the globe for several hours. Many of these boys had never been on a boat. We caught reds, drum, flounder, sharks, jacks and just a great day on the water.
Hopefully these last few days of South wind has pushed some salty, oxygen rich waters into the hunting grounds. In a perfect scenario, it would have stacked up plenty of bait and trout into the marsh for us. We have trips rolling all week and plan to check every where and everything.
We still have boats open if anyone wants to come and wet a line. Been seeing more 4-wheelers and tree stands being pulled behind trucks driving through town than boats. Now that hunters have started getting into the woods and school is back in full swing, the fishing pressure is way down. The seemingly unlimited number of Spring and Summer throw back trout we battled earlier in the year, should be ripe for the picking in the coming months. Give us a call if you want to set something up for fall.
