In the WOODS and on the WATER(DEER and FISH Pics)!!!

The Shore Things guides have been all over the place this past week. Capt Alex is still doing his best to stop all ducks from migrating south of Hernando, MS. Last time we spoke he said the duck has been fantastic up in the northern part of the state. Even heard from the one an only Capt Kyle Jarreau. Did not really get a chance to talk with him, just got see a pic of his smiling face and a huge white tail deer. Happy to report I have ended over a decade long curse of not shooting a deer. Since I started guiding for a living in the early 2000's I have not done much hunting. The very few hunts I have been on I either don't see, get seen or miss the deer. Hunting with the crew from Guice Offshore north of Jackson, MS I FINALLY harvested a deer! As luck would have it, it was my biggest buck ever, a nice lil eight pointer. Cant thank Billy, Nathan, Asa, Daniel, David and Ben enough for the best hunting trip of my life. Just hope I get to take another one in the next decade...
Capt Kenny finally came out of the woods(1 day). Giving the deers and hogs a break, he found time  to run a crew on a sunset sight seeing tour. We try not to ever let the  boats sit for long, and he took the opportunity to knock the dust of his boat. He said the water over in Lake Borgne was about as clean as you will ever see it.
Capt Matt an I got to run a few trips, with great results. The Mighty Matt got to run to the LA Marsh to do a little low water red fishing. He said the water was gin clean and full of fish. The low clean water made the fish easy to see, but a little spooky. They caught, but he said you had to be on your game to connect in almost too perfect conditions.
While they were out in the marsh, I got to run a near shore MS trip with the Hewey crew. We played all day in the Bay an in the MS Sound. We were trying to get a lil variety of drum, red, trout, flounder and sheephead. Mostly all of our catch was big sheepshead. Mr Jim actually tried to shut down the fishing several times, claiming they had enough fish. His wife had other plans, and kept them coming over the rail. Happy wife happy life...
Weather permitting, the fishing has been great. If the weather is bad, we simply try to hide from the wind, reschedule or cancel. On the colder days we have been pushing our departure times later in the morning. Mardi Gras and Spring Break are just around the corner and fishing just keeps getting better and better. If yall wanna bend a rod and have some fun, give us a shout.
