Battle Royal In The Bay(sheephead, drum and redfish)!!!!

Got to take advantage of some insanely good late January weather. Tuesday we were back out at Cat Island doing some sight seeing. Been booking several sight seeing tours out there. Hard not to pick up a fishing pole, but it is nice to enjoy the island by land sometimes...
We got our fix on the fishing poles, Wednesday. I had the entire Barron family on board. Jennifer, Ben, Sawyer, Grayson and Birthday boy Craig(Dad). Left the dock at the crack at 9AM, to take advantage of the warmer temperatures. With the little guys playing hooky from school, we opted to run a near shore MS Trip. This time of year, that trip is about the best bang for your buck.
Literally the first cast, and every cast till we ran out of bait, was a bite or a fish. The first cast was a nice slot sized red fish. The second to last fish we kept was another slot red. In between the reds was an all out slaying of sheepheads and puppy drum. Even though it was Craigs Birthday, he spent the entire trip making sure his young sons stayed on the bite. Jennifer jumped in the chaos from time to time. Pretty certain she had the biggest sheephead of the day too. Think I made some friends for life with the 3 younger anglers. Gotta give it to those lil guys, they kept the rough housing to a minimum and wore the life jackets all day. If one of the younger brothers needed help reeling, big brother jumped in for the assist. By the end of the day, their netting skills were impressive. We had to release fish the last hour of the trip, due to a space issue. Just glad the family got to experience such a fun filled day with steady action.
With the young anglers out of school for Mardi Gras and Spring break, this is the best trip ever to take. Not gonna lie, the older anglers enjoy the heck out of too. If the weather is good, we can always run to the LA Marsh for some red fishing. Give us call, text or email if you would like us to set one up for you.
