Making a MOVIE at the Cat Island House and Capt Matt found some TROUT!!!!!!

One of the more "interesting" weeks on the water Shore Thing Fishing Charters has had in a while... I promise there is a good fishing report in here somewhere, but we have been having too much fun out at the Cat Island house not to share it.
Out of respect for the director, cast and crew we have had to keep a tight lip on what we have been doing out at the island. The movie is called "ISOLATION", it is kind of a murder mystery. Half was shot in the Bahamas and half at Cat Island. They needed the island for the Caribbean like scenery, more importantly a quiet place to film. In the movie, will be: Dominic Purcell (Blade II, Prison Break), Tricia Helfer (Battle Star Gallactica), Luke Malby (28 Days Later), and Marie Avgeropoulos ( Percy Jackson and the Olypian).
Shore Thing was contracted to assist with the island house, as well as to shuttle people, food and equipment. It was a massive task, so we had to call on our best corporate customer to lend us a hand. Nathan and Billy Guice with Guice Offshore sent two of their 47 foot Gaudet Deck Boats to haul all the heavy equipment and numerous people. My old buddy from captain school( circa 2002),  was none other than Captain Daniel "D-Rob" Robinson, manager of their deck boat fleet. We just hauled what needed hauling, but mostly moved boats to, "Get out of the shot"! I figured the best place to stay out of the way was to go fishing? Director Shane Dax Taylor was happy to send us out into the bayous around the island to fish for speckled trout red fish, and flounder. Only got to fish for small blocks of time, but we caught plenty of fish. Female Villain Marie Avgeropoulos even joined Capt Kenny for a quick trip to fish in a pack of rat reds we could not get away from in one of the bayous. Shore Thing has been on its fair share of fishing shows over the years, but this was a completely different ball game. The set was catered, very professional, and full of Hollywood Starlets. We thought the Mayor of Cat Island (caretaker of the house) Walter Gaudin was gonna have sensory overload. Even though we did not get to fish a whole lot, it was one of the coolest weeks on the water we have ever had. A very special Thank You to producers George Maranville and Brian "Murph" Murphy for allowing us to be a part of the whole movie making Cat Island Experience.
Think I promised to include a fishing report?....
While me, Capt Alex and Capt Kenny were making movie magic, Capt Matt was on the best trout bite of 2015! He had the Broom crew out on Wednesday and they did incredible on the trout and reds. Boy wonder landed on a school of fish in the LA Marsh and went to crackin on them. He caught more trout in one morning than me and Capt Kenny have caught all year (due to our love of puppy drum, sheepshead, and red fish). They got decent weather and came in with 50 keeper speckled trout. Capt Matt said all the damage was done on Matrix soft plastics( Pink Champagne, and Shrimp Creole) The Broom Crew even sprinkled a few slot reds and puppy drum in the fish pile.
Thursday, while Capt Alex and Kenny were at the island, I was out with the Morgan and Gray from the Gulf Coast Research Lab. They needed some flounders for a study they are doing. Seas were nice, but the water was filthy from Bayou Caddy to Bay St Louis. Was very surprised to see the fish we caught. The rat reds were at most of our stops, and we made many. Even wrangled a couple of nice speckled trout in the stained water, scientists gotta eat too. Only managed two flounders, but under the conditions, we chalked it up as win. We used live cocahoes on the bottom rigs all day long.
